How to Install Microsoft Software

This guide shows you how to redeem your product key, download, install, and activate Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 using the official Microsoft site setup.office.com. If you need help at any point, email us at support@realkeys.co.uk — we’re happy to assist.

✅ Before You Start

• A valid 25-character product key (XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX).
• A Microsoft account you control (or create one during setup).
• An internet connection and a compatible PC or Mac.
• Remove old/unsupported Office versions if you’re replacing them (recommended).

🧩 Step 1 — Redeem Your Product Key

  1. Go to setup.office.com and sign in with your Microsoft account (or create one).
  2. Enter your 25-character product key exactly as shown, then follow the prompts to redeem it to your account.
  3. Redemption permanently links the license to your Microsoft account so you can reinstall later without a key.

Tip: Microsoft also supports redemption at microsoft365.com/setup. After redeeming, your product appears under Services & subscriptions at account.microsoft.com/services.

💾 Step 2 — Download the Installer

  1. After redemption, choose your product and click Install.
  2. On Windows, the file is typically OfficeSetup.exe; on Mac, it’s a .pkg installer. Save and open the file.
  3. If prompted by Windows User Account Control, click Yes to begin.

Notes: Microsoft generally defaults to the 64-bit version on Windows for best performance. Choose 32-bit only for specific compatibility needs.

🖥️ Step 3 — Install on Your Device

Follow the on-screen installer steps. When it completes, open an app (e.g., Word or Excel). If you’re asked to sign in, use the same Microsoft account you used to redeem your key.

🔓 Step 4 — Activate

Activation typically happens automatically after you sign in. If an activation wizard appears, just follow the prompts. Once activated, your license is associated with your Microsoft account and can be managed from Services & subscriptions.

🔁 Reinstalling or Moving to a New PC/Mac

Return to account.microsoft.com/services, find your product, and select Install on the new device. If you’ve reached your activation limit, you may need to sign out/deactivate from an old device first.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

• Prompted for a key again? Sign in with the exact Microsoft account you used to redeem — most consumer installs activate by account, not by re-entering the key.
• Key redemption errors (billing/region/etc.)? Check your Microsoft Payment & billing settings and try again, or see Microsoft’s product-key error help.
• Old Office conflicts? Uninstall previous versions, restart, and re-run the installer.
• Mac install issues? Download the latest installer again and ensure macOS version is supported.
